New Members Wanted

Good reasons to join?

• • • We’re historical. We’ve been entertaining DC metro audiences since 1950, when 8 refugees from college informal a cappella came together and added a 9th member leading to our curious name (why not the Augmented Octave?).
    • We’re not alone. We belong to the American A Cappella Alliance, a community of groups like ours from around the country that convenes for a Spring Sing festival every May, most recently in Bar Harbor, ME. https://springsing.org/
    • We’re service-oriented. For thirty years we’ve sponsored Sing Out for Shelter, an annual benefit concert raising over $300,000 for DC charities supporting people experiencing homelessness. https://augmented8.org/sos2022/
    • We’re contemporary. Well, sort of. We still sing plenty of songs from the Great American Songbook and the second half of the 20th century, but we embraced virtual recording during the pandemic and produced some stuff we are pretty proud of. https://augmented8.org/current-recordings/

    • We’d love to be more diverse. Only new members can help us with that!
