The Off Sounders have continued to experience a youth movement. Last year in Bar Harbor we introduced you to Clay Kaufman our Music Director, Wes Oler whose grandfather of same name was a prominent member of the Augmented Eight, and Ben Bayers refugee from the Wizards. We also brought in a ringer bass from Maine, Buzz’s nephew, Erik Perry. This year Ben has brought in two men with whom he sang in college, Tim Rhône and Alec
Bandzes. They all sang together in a Fairfield University group called The Bensonians. Ben swears it was not named after him, so we googled it and it appears that the University’s address is indeed on North Benson Road. (We may give Ben a pass). We rang the bell again this year and Erik emerged out of the Maine woods to rejoin us in Detroit. Our entire baritone section was relieved to have a true bass sing with us. The alternative was testosterone injections. If you encounter an Off Sounder whose voice sounds low and gravelly, either he did not get the memo and is on steroids, or, more likely, it is the Sunday reprise….
